ZigaForm version 6.1.1

commissions

Let it be known, that I reserve the right to retain the original image’s copyright and make copies/prints to sell to other buyers prior to and after selling the original work and disperse the image as I see fit on the internet and my portfolio for self-promotion. If you would like to purchase all copyrights to the image, the price will need to be negotiated. By commissioning me, you are agreeing to said terms.

I’ve outlined a rough pricing range for prints and privately commissioned drawings. Prices are subject to change.

For book jackets, interior spreads, posters, and mass publications, the below pricing does not apply. Large or long-term projects will be priced on an individual basis.

Please only go to the commission form after you’ve read over the following and the rough price quotes.

Materials [top]

The materials I use for most standard commissions are 8″x10″ (smooth or textured) bristol board, illustration board, watercolor paper, canvas, mechanical pencils, graphite pencils, conte, charcoal, chalk and oil pastel, Millenium ZIG pens, Prismacolor colored pencils, acrylic paints, oil paints, watercolor, gouache, and the computer programs Paintshop Pro 7.3, Painter 7, and Photoshop CS. Prints are 300 DPI (dots per inch) and are done on quality, archival photo paper in matte or glossy finish.

Restrictions [top]

I will not draw any previously copyrighted creature/character from a comic, movie, show, book, etc, unless it’s a free intellectual property (King Arthur, Hansel and Gretel, Baba Yaga, etc.). Doing so would be copyright infringement. Fan art cannot be purchased, but stand alone OC (original character) portraits are fine as long as there’s no copyrighted character depicted.

Also, I draw in my own style, so please don’t expect what I produce to look like a specific source material. This means that I won’t copy the style of: Disney, specific anime, specific manga, comic book, cartoon, etc.

Written Descriptions [top]

Please be as specific as possible when describing what is to be in the portrait/illustration as it makes it easier to depict close to, if not exactly, what you desire to have in the finished product. This is especially helpful for those who want to have an RPG/story character drawn.

Need some help describing your character/scene?

Visual References [top]

If there are any visual references you would like me to use for the portrait/illustration, please send a copy of them with the payment. References will not be returned, so please don’t send something you expect to see again. Or, for those who have scanned/on-line references, please send scanned copies or a valid web address containing the images via e-mail.

Timeframe [top]

Once I’ve begun the piece, it will be periodically scanned (if done with traditional media) and e-mailed to you during the creation process. No major changes will be made after the preparatory sketch is e-mailed, critiqued, and approved by the purchaser. I should be able to get the piece completed within 3-4 weeks after receiving the payment, depending upon the size and type of project. The turn-around rate may vary, but that’s the typical timeframe. If I have a particularly busy schedule, you will be placed in the commission queue according to the date ordered and payment – first come, first serve.

Please keep an eye on the Commissions page to see what the status of your commission is or if there are any delays.

Finished Product [top]

Traditional media: Upon completion, the original image will be scanned and e-mailed a final time to see if it is what is expected and to make very minor changes if necessary. When all is well, it  will be shipped to the purchaser in a reinforced envelope or by whatever means previously discussed and arranged if too large for such a delivery.

Digital media: Upon completion, a digital file with no hardcopy product (print) will be sent to the purchaser. If a print is desired, please let me know during the initial stages of commissioning as it will affect the price.

Payments [top]

I will not start on a commission until full or partial payment has been received and processed. If the total is less than $50, full payment is required; if more than $50, half of the total must be paid up front. At the time of completion, another scan of the image will be e-mailed and full payment is due. Only after full payment will the final product be sent to the purchaser.

Payments, at this time, must be by either PayPal (credit card/direct deposit), money order, or personal cheque. Cash is not accepted since it’s too risky to send through the postal system. All amounts are to be paid in American dollars.

The PayPal URL or my home address will be given once the commission is set and the payment method chosen. Do not send a payment prior to consulting with me about the commission and the agreed upon price.

Shipping [top]

Shipping charges to anywhere in Canada is $3 and international shipping is calculated as needed. If items are larger than 8″x10″ or heavier than what the standard shipping fees cover, the final shipping costs may be altered to fit. These charges apply to all mailed products.

Refunds [top]

I can’t stress this enough: No commissions will be refunded after the prep-sketch is sent and approved. I will try my hardest to make it what you desire it to be, but any period after that point, if you decide that you’ve changed your mind and want your money back, tough cookies. I will not have my time and supplies wasted and then be expected to give a refund. On top of that, if you payed with a credit card, the Paypal processing fee that was taken out (1.9% + $0.30 USD per transaction) will not be included in the refund otherwise I’d be losing money.

I am not saying it will happen, but with the postal and delivery system, you never know, so if a shipped item doesn’t arrive, or arrives badly damaged, please let me know and we will work things out. It is up to you to pay for shipping insurance if you’re incredibly wary of the way the US Postal Service treats the mail.
